Listen as you read along...

Two best friends set out one day,

Chatting and laughing along the way

They neared the forest, green and thick.

The path got narrow; their steps got quick!

Beautiful flowers and chirping birds

Lazy rabbits and jumping deer.

They walked and talked in the forest shade.

They had each other, they were’nt afraid!

But wait, what was that they saw?

A monstrous bear with an enormous jaw.

They stood still in their track….

Do they lunge forward or run back?

The bear decided to investigate.

“Are these two dinner for my plate?”

The two friends ran as fast as they could

Was there a way out of this wood?

They ran on two legs, the bear on four.

Splat went one on the forest floor.

“Help,” he said, “Friend, help me!!”

But his friend ran up to the nearest tree

To the highest branch, he climbed away.

‘Sorry, I’ll help you another day!”

The man on the ground lay quiet and still

Playing dead in the eerie chill.

Bear trotted up to him and sniffed…

And walked away looking miffed!

The man on the tree came down slow,

He ran to his friend on the forest floor.

‘What happened?” he asked,

“What did the bear do?

Did he bite your ear,

 or nibble your shoe??”

“No” said the man on the forest floor.

The truth now he could not ignore.

“The bear said, take this as a clue,

And don’t trust deserting friends like you.”

Hey kids, Do you think it is important to be trust worthy? How would you show your family and friends that they can trust you?
